Healthier chapati
Shhh, we spill the (not so) secret to healthier chapatis – wholemeal flour.

Ingredients
- 225 g wholemeal flour
- 150 ml hot water
Instructions
- In a large bowl, place the flour and water and mix with a butter knife to form a rough dough.
- Tip it onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until smooth. Put it back in the bowl, cover with a clean tea towel and leave for 10 minutes.
- Tip back onto the floured surface and knead again for a minute or two. Divide the dough into 8 balls and roll out into roughly 15cm diameter circles.
- Heat a shallow frying pan over a high heat and add a chapati. Flip after 10 seconds, and then cook the other side for 1 minute or until cooked. Puff up the chapati by holding it over direct heat if you have a gas hob, or placing it under a hot grill, turning until lightly brown.
Notes
We love these alongside dhal or curry.
